21 Gun Salute at Stirling Castle - Birthday of Prince Charles 2016

On 14 November 2016 a 21 gun salute was fired from the Queen Anne garden at Stirling Castle in honour of the birthday of Prince Charles. The firing was carried out by 105 Regiment Artillery and Aberdeen University Officer Training Corps (OTC). Queen Victoria School Pipe Band, Dunblane, provided musical accompaniment.

Remembrance Sunday Glasgow 2016

On 13 November 2016 the annual commemoration of Remembrance Sunday was held at the cenotaph in George Square, Glasgow. The Guard of Honour was provided by Royal Navy HMS Neptune and the music by the Band of the Royal Marines.

Edinburgh Polish Scouts Commemorate All Saints Day

On 1 November 2016 Polish Scouts in Edinburgh commemorated All Saints Day. At the Polish war graves cemetery in Corstorphine, Edinburgh, a large outline of Poland was made with candles and fire torches were lit to represent important places in Poland. Candles were placed on the Polish graves.

Garden of Remembrance Edinburgh 2016

On 31 October 2016 the opening ceremony of the Garden of Remembrance in Princes Street Edinburgh took place. A service of dedication to remember the war dead was held, wreaths were laid and the musical accompaniment was provided by musicians from the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Seafarers Service at Glasgow Cathedral 2016

On 23 October 2016 the annual Seafarers Service was held in Glasgow Cathedral. The service honours the contribution made to the nation by all seafarers. Prior to the service the Band of the Royal Marines played in the Cathedral precinct and contingents of Sea Cadets and Veterans were inspected by the Naval Regional Commander for Scotland & Northern Ireland Chris Smith.
