Seafarers Service at Glasgow Cathedral 2019

On 20 October 2019 the annual Seafarers Service was held in Glasgow Cathedral. The service honours the contribution made to the nation by all seafarers. Prior to the service the Band of the Royal Marines played in the Cathedral precinct and contingents of Sea Cadets were inspected by the Royal Naval Regional Commander for Scotland & Northern Ireland Chris Smith.

Armed Forces Day 2019 Glasgow

On 29 June 2019 Glasgow celebrated Armed Forces Day. There was a parade of serving military personnel, veterans and cadets. The parade was led by HMS Dalriada the Royal Naval Reserve unit for Glasgow and the West of Scotland. The salute was taken at the Cenotaph in George Square.

Remembrance Sunday (Armistice Day) Glasgow 2018

On 11 November 2018 the annual commemoration of Remembrance Sunday was held at the cenotaph in George Square, Glasgow. The Guard of Honour was provided by 52nd Lowland (6th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland) and the music by Lowland Band (Royal Regiment of Scotland).

21 Gun Salute at Stirling Castle - Birthday of Prince Charles 2016

On 14 November 2016 a 21 gun salute was fired from the Queen Anne garden at Stirling Castle in honour of the birthday of Prince Charles. The firing was carried out by 105 Regiment Artillery and Aberdeen University Officer Training Corps (OTC). Queen Victoria School Pipe Band, Dunblane, provided musical accompaniment.

Remembrance Sunday Glasgow 2016

On 13 November 2016 the annual commemoration of Remembrance Sunday was held at the cenotaph in George Square, Glasgow. The Guard of Honour was provided by Royal Navy HMS Neptune and the music by the Band of the Royal Marines.
