Sleeper Train - Paris (France) to Berlin (Germany)

A sleeper train runs ran daily throughout the year between the cities of Paris and Berlin. It was operated by Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) under their City Night Line brand.

Train last ran on Thu 11 Dec Berlin to Paris & Fri 12 Dec Paris to Berlin.

Russian Railways run a Paris-Berlin-Warsaw-Moscow sleeper train. From 10 Dec 2017 it will run once per week departing Moscow at 20.00 on Tuesday evenings and returning from Paris at 18.58 on Thursday evenings.

City Night Line trains were sleeper trains operated by Deutsche Bahn (German Railways). All City Night Line trains were withdrawn from service on 10 December 2016. Austrian Railways ÖBB are now operating some of the sleeper services under the brand name NightJet.

Train Tickets

Tickets to travel on the City Night Line can be purchased from the Deutsche Bahn UK booking centre or they can be bought online from the Deutsche Bahn website (you can print your own online ticket!)

  • Telephone +44 (0)8718 80 86 66 (calls cost 8p per min).
  • Opening hours Mon-Fri 9am-8pm, Sat-Sun 9am-1pm.
  • There is no booking fee.

Deutsche Bahn can post the tickets to purchasers. The normal mail will take 3-5 business days. The tickets in the UK can alternatively be sent by Special Delivery.

The tickets for a trip from Berlin to Paris on 2nd September 2010 (as shown below) were ordered at 1pm on a Monday, posted Special Delivery on Tuesday from Deutsche Bahn in Surbiton, UK and were delivered on the Wednesday. The charge for Special Delivery was £4.87.

Deutsche Bahn send two tickets the reservation and the travel ticket.

The example below is a 2nd class Europa-Spezial. This is a cheaper saver fare than the standard rate but this type of ticket is non-refundable and non-changeable.
